Upon arrival, he is greeted by a alligator guarding the property and had to find some food to distract it while he breaks through the front door of the house. Joe commandeers a ambulance to drive to the lake then sails across it towards Lambert's island home. He made his way to the hospital where the old man's body was kept and learnt from his medical records that he was a scientist named Reginald Lambert who lived on a island in Lake Chrichton. However, with the police on alert since his disappearance from interrogation, Joe uses the time machine to alternate between present and future as a way of getting by undetected. He leaves the interrogation room to explore the old building until he manages to find enough sunshine to make the jump back to the seventies. The miniature time machine also appeared to be out of power, leaving Joe stranded in this time period unless he can recharge it with sunlight. He finds himself still at the same location from when he left, except it was now very dilapidated and had the skeletal remains of both officers lying on floor in front of him. While the cops attempt to get some answers from him, Joe decides to press a button on the time travelling device and is instantaneously sent 30 years into a bleak future where the world lies in ruins. Following this, the authorities arrive at the scene and Joe is taken to the police station for questioning. Joe is given a solar-powered device that would enable him to travel between time periods and is urged by the old man to find his younger self before seemingly succumbing to his injury. However, now unable to prevent the event himself, the old man is forced to rely on Joe to carry out his mission. The old man tells Joe that he is from 30 years in the future and has traveled back in time to stop a disastrous event from occurring. Joe heads down to the R&D laboratories to fulfil his new responsibilities but he soon notices a trail of blood on the floor which leads him to find a elderly man dying from a gunshot wound.
Because of this, Joe has been promoted to fill Frank's position and is given access to clean the restricted levels of the building. He was finishing up on his cleaning duties when he is suddenly summoned to his boss's office and is informed that his coworker Frank has left the company to pursue a different career. Joe has been working as a janitor for two years at the Archon corporation, a research and development company dedicated to discovering the next big breakthrough in military defence technology. He is a janitor who is tasked with saving the world from a deadly virus. Joe is the main protagonist of the video game The Silent Age.
